Bowyn Morgan IBF title fight cancelled due to the Government's travel restrictions

Bowyn Morgan has taken to social media to announce some sad news, that his upcoming bout with Japanese American boxer Charles Bellamy has been cancelled.

With the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) becoming a pandemic, the New Zealand Government has enforced strict restrictions for people travelling to New Zealand. The restrictions now mean that anyone coming into New Zealand, including Kiwis, must self isolate themselves for 14 days upon arrival.

Morgan was set to take on Bellamy for the vacant IBF Pan Pacific Welterweight title on March 28th. However, due to the government's recently announced travel restrictions in the only way this fight could have taken place would have been for Bellamy to have arrived in New Zealand two days ago. Here is Morgan's announcement.

Sports have taken a significant beating recently due to the coronavirus outbreak.Multiple events and leagues have been brought to a halt, including Super Rugby and the NBA. However, the UFC may still go ahead with events and is looking at staging them in empty arenas; this way, they can rely on PPV sales to sustain the event. Geovana Peres's world title defence in the UK is still scheduled to go-ahead. All sporting events in Australia that have a crowd bigger than 500 people or more will be cancelled. Due to this, Andrei Mikhailovich's upcoming fight has been called off. The news will also certainly make things difficult for the Joseph Parker vs. Junior Fa negotiations, which is currently happening at the moment.
