Devastating Knockout win on Friday the 13th
Bad luck rained down on some boxers last night as friday the 13th struck at Ellerslie Events Centre in Auckland, New Zealand. The fight card had shown one of the best corporate card Auckland has seen all year.
In the 10 corporate undercard, only one fight ended in Split Decision making the judges on point the entire night. However if you include the Corporate card and the Professional card, there were six major knockouts throughout the night which required a one month suspension at the least.
Lui Te'o (1-6-0) coming off six loses in a row, desperately needed to win the fight. Te'o took on New Zealand born and Brisbane Australia Resident Kriton Eliu (debut). Both boxers had heavy hits, however it was Te'o experience that won him the first round and get him the knockout late in the second round.
Lui "K9" Te'o improves his record to two wins six loses and will be fighting again in November against the 2014 Commonwealth games silver medalist David Light, who is making his pro debut. That fight will be at ABA Stadium, promoted by Shane Cameron.
As for the Main Event, Conrad "Friday the 13th" Lam (4-0-0) took on former New Zealand Champion "King" Afa Tatupu (10-7-0). Once again both boxers were throwing extremely heavy hits with Tatupu throwing wild bombs. Lam did his signature cutting off the ring and keeping Tatupu in a confined area.
Eventually late in the first round Lam Stunned Tatupu very badly to the point of stumbling around, however he was not knocked down. Referee Lance Revill was going to wave the fight off but Tatupu begged to have the fight continue. After was seems like 20 seconds of begging, the end of round one happened and the fight was going to continue.
Round two did not last long with 34 seconds in, Lam threw a heavy shot and knocked Tatupu out cold. Lam improve his undefeated record to five wins. Conrad Lam will be fighting again on the same card as Lui Te'o in November at ABA Stadium. Lam will be taking on Sam Pulu (1-1-0).
As for Afa Tatupu, he has received a two month suspension but some speculate maybe he should have gotten a harsher suspension.
This event will be broadcast on Gladrap Channel on Youtube.
