American Kiwi Julius Long wins first boxing title in Australia

American Born New Zealander, “The Towering Inferno” Julius Long wins his first pro boxing title in Australia. The tallest active boxer in world, won the Interim WBA Oceania Heavyweight title against Bowie Tupou in Australia.

Despite being deducted a point in the 7th and 9th round for excessive holding, Long won the bout by Split decision 95-93 96-92 94-95.

As for the undercard, New Zealander Conrad Lam who is trained by Long, won his bout by UD against Hasely Hepi. Lam knocked his opponent down twice in the fight, once in the 1st and 2nd round. With this win, people will be asking when will the rematch against BBB happen.

The vacant Queensland State Australian Title was on the line with Kurtis Pegoraro winning his second Queensland State title in his career. Pegoraro won the title by SD against John Szigeti.

Willie Nasio successfully defended his Australian National title against former Australian Champion Hunter Sam.

As for Julius long, everyone will be keeping an eye on the WBA Rankings over the next couple of months to see if he gets his ranking or to see if he defends his newly succeeded title.
