Big win for returning Tyrone Warren
Rotorua own Tyrone Warren made his in ring return last night in Auckland against tough opponent, Iraqi Sivan Hermez after being absent from the ring for 14 months.
This being Warren’s first fight in Auckland and first time fighting at a much heavier weight at 81 kgs. Originally Warren was scheduled to face the top 100 in the world Mose Auimatagi, however for some unknown reason Mose was pulled out. Warren instead fought Sivan Hermez (5-8-0).
Sivan Hermez despite his recent lose over Panuve Helu, has had big bouts with wins over Korobo Etto (5-0-2) in Australia and Ofisa Vili (7-4-0) in Manuwera. However for second time in a month this was not the raging bull night. Warren simply outboxed Hermez throughout the 4 rounds with Warren winning the bout by Unanimous Decision.
The question is what is next for these two boxers? Recently Panuve Helu has called out Warren to a bout, and with the NZPBA light heavyweight title vacant, this could be an option. As for Hermez, one potential fight would be Hermez vs Kendall Cooper at Super Middleweight.
On the Main Undercard, Joshua Francis made his debut against Lomi Tusi. It was an explosive 4 rounds of cruiserweight boxing, some round being close. Tusi won the bout by Majority Decision.
