Extreme - F1 International Super 4 Crowning of the Queen Preview

Saturday, 25 April 2015, the Te Atatu Peninsula Community Centre plays host to the Eddy Lee promoted Extreme F1 Oceania Super 4 Queen MuayThai tournament.

Sponsored by Athlete-X, the tournament features four female muay thai fighters from both sides of the Tasman battling for the Oceania Muay Thai title.

Popular fighter Daria ‘Boss’ Smith makes up part of the kiwi contingent, bringing the ISKA South Pacific strap she won last November along for the ride.

The 29 year old native of Russia has only been fighting for the past two years but has already racked up 15 contests, only tasting defeat thrice

SMAC gym product BayBee ‘Pitbull’ Nansen joins her.

The WMC junior lightweight, lightweight and WKA featherweight champion last fought in February, losing a majority decision to Gentiane Lupi in a boxing match.

The pair had split muay thai decisions in their previous two meetings .

28 year old Alicia ‘Guns’ Pestana joins the fray representing The Lucky Country.

With over 30 professional fights on her ledger, the Riddler Gym fighter is a two time WKA featherweight world champion.

Rounding out the tournament, Brisbanite Jen Cavanagh is one of Australia’s top female fighters.

The WKA South Pacific, and WKA and WMC State champion is coming off a victory over Thai Karaket in Thailand last November.

The ANZAC themed event is highlighted by four superfights including three division world champion Michelle‘Pressure’ Preston colliding with Australia’s Karen ‘Bullet’ Williams.

Training out of Elite Thai Kickboxing, Preston has also held a slew regional and national titles while Williams has sported the WKA/ISKA South Pacific, ANBF Australian Flyweight , WMTC Australian Bantamweight and WMTC Queensland Bantamweight belts.

In an international super fight, Australian Jenny Lau pits her karate style against the taekwondo style of Freya Thomson.

The ISKA East Coast champion Lau began training in Kyokushin 15 years ago before transition to muay thai in 2004.

The 26 year old Thomson trained in taekwondo previously and has picked up the 55kg New Zealand title since moving to muay thai.

Former King in the Ring middleweight champion Joe ‘Southpaw’ Hopkins squares off against Mana Muay Thai Palmerston’s Mike Kipa in a qualifier for the Super 4 75kg Kings tournament.

Opening the superfights, Mandela Ali from Beyond Gym takes on Leegar Legacy’s Ben Tia Tia.

The Extreme F1 Oceania Super 4 Queen event is also accompanied by a full undercard.
