Today, Karate New Zealand was accepted as a full Member of the New Zealand Olympic Committee, and the news published on the NZOC website - Four New Sports enter NZ Olympic Fold
This is a momentous occasion as it is yet another step on the path to a New Zealander competing in Karate at the Olympics in Tokyo, 2020. Without this membership, no Karate-Ka from New Zealand would be eligible to compete, even if they met the WKF qualification requirements for the Olympic Games.
Thank you to our President, Dennis May for his hard work in ensuring our membership to the NZOC. And thanks also to the members of the NZOC who continue to help us all along this path.
Ous,
Chris Bennett
KNZ Secretary-General
