NZPBA Judge passed away after long battle with cancer

It’s is a sad day today in New Zealand boxing, as another Senior boxing judge has passed away from a long battle of cancer. John Gillespie passed away 6th of November, Sunday afternoon.

Gillespie has been a long time member of NZPBA, a senior official and current Vise President. In his officiating career he has achieved much including:

Refereeing on the Cameron vs Tua undercard, Anthony Mundine vs Xavier Toliver, Two Joseph Parker fights, Three Robert Berridge fights, Six Gunnar Jackson fights and

Judged Cameron vs Minto, Three Gunnar Jackson fights, Robert Berridge vs Daniel MacKinnon, IBF middleweight title Final eliminator Sam Soliman vs Giovanni Lorenzo and Jeff Horn vs Fernando Ferreira da Silva.
