Hennessey made a name for himself by DJing around the circuit and for Radio Hauraki with the stage name of "The Danimal". He also had a job as VJ on Max TV which ended in 2002.

Hennessey did his first Ring announcing show for King of Oceania Kickboxing Tournament. Shortly after, he announced the 2006 World Grand Prix K1. A few years later he announced the biggest event of his career which at the time was highest views in PPV history, David Tua vs Shane Cameron.
