At Seido Karate Devonport in Auckland classes and training is fully integrated. Both men and women, youth and seniors train together in a great environment. Everyone is challenged to be their best and to continue to better their best.
Our goal is to develop students to achieve more for themselves than they perhaps thought possible.
Seido Karate is a traditional Japanese style of karate, into which its founder, Kaicho Tadashi Nakamura has distilled the essence of what he has learned about the martial arts in over 50 years of study, practice, and teaching. The World Seido Karate Organization officially opened its headquarters on October 15, 1976, in New York City. We are now a worldwide organization, with thriving branches throughout the United States and in such diverse places as Asia, Australia, Europe, New Zealand, South Africa, and South America. Nevertheless, within Seido, growth of our branch schools is not pursued for its own sake.
Devonport Seido Karate is a non profit incorporated society. Classes are taken by qualified black belt instructors who have a comprehensive range of skills and teaching methods. Instructors are not paid‚ but teach to offer back to others what Seido Karate gives them. Our chief instructors‚ Jun Shihan Danny Watson (6th dan)‚ and Kyoshi Bruce Craig (5th dan) have over 50 years experience between them.
It is especially strong in New Zealand with large clubs in Auckland, Nelson and Christchurch, as well as many smaller clubs spread across the country.
