Apex Muay Thai Warrior Series returns on May 1, with the event to be held on Auckland's North Shore inside Urban Sport Gym.
The card will feature the semi-finals of the 64kg tournament and the start of the 80kg competition. Recently crowned King in the Ring, Rob Horrocks will make his anticipated return to action when he takes on Yassin Yass in their semi-final clash. Horrocks booked his passage to the semi-finals with a second-round stoppage win over Nate Chizzy, while Yass punched his ticket to the semis with an impressive victory over Pong Chau.
The other semi-final pairing sees the No.1 ranked Ale Taumalolo going head to head with Travis Schwitzer. Taumalolo won his quarter-final bout via a split decision when he defeated Zepth Hawkins. However, there was no need for any scorecards for Schwitzer as he earned his semi spot with a first-round stoppage victory over Ale Tellez.
The announcement of the 80kg lineup has no doubt gotten local Muay Thai fans excited in anticipation ahead of what promises to a series of terrific contests. The lineup contains some of the country's top fighters in the weight class, including Tauamo Mandela Ale, Chris Eades, and Nate Law.
The opening round matchups of the 80kg series are shown in the graphic below.
