Freestyle MMA will be hosting the 7th edition of their “Impact Fight Night” event, held at Westpac Events Centre in Morrinsville. This event will be extra exceptional with 15 K1 kickboxing fights, 2 title fights, and live on PPV with fightshow.live.
In the co-main event of the evening Connar 'Pretty Boy' Wilson will be taking on Hayellom Tesfay for the WKA K1 New Zealand Title and Dion ‘Charles’ Manson will be facing Jesse ‘The Evangelist’ Church for the WKA Central North Island Title. The fight card will also feature Dylan Law vs Luke ‘Tornado’ Thompson, Daniel Donald vs Lockie Cameron and Joe Blaze vs Maxi Wilson. All of these fights plus more will all be available Fightshow.live for only $19.95 to watch live and to view 7 days after the fight.
Freestyle MMA has been established a little over 5 years ago, but already has a stable of promising young fighters that are taking the fight scene by storm. Head coach Mike Potae from the Morrinsville club has been putting on Impact Fight Nights to have the local fighters keep active and showcase their skills. The event will be fundraising for various affairs including local causes, fundraising for world championships overseas travel for Connar ‘The Real Pretty Boy’ Wilson and other fighters in the gym. Potae says “There is a lot of talent in The Waikato country that is often overlooked by the townies but we are making our mark’’.
19-year-old Connar Wilson, who we know fought on the most recent King in the ring, is fighting to be on his way to the WKA World title. That is his goal and will fight anyone to get that shot. He has already won three junior New Zealand titles already in his career, including the IKBF New Zealand Junior title. After his fight at King in the ring, his record stands at 13 wins, 2 loses and 1 draw with 4 wins coming by way of KO. His trainer Mike Potae says he sees a lot of potential in Connar. “Connar has got what it takes to be a world champ…. he has fought for his life and is determined to be a world champion soon or later’’. Connar will be representing Waikato as he takes on Hayellom Tesfay
Hayellom Tesfay who has appeared in two super fights on King in the ring in 2019 and 2020, has won multiple kickboxing titles so far in his career. Titles including multiple WKN World amateur title, WKN Oceania title, IKBF North Island title and WKBF New Zealand Light Middleweight title. Hayellom Tesfay fights out of King's academy in Auckland CBD under his trainer Vahid Unesi.
The dairy farmer, Dion ‘Charles’ Manson has been fighting out of Hydras Kickboxing Club since the start of his career. However, the bad news is this may be Dion's last fight. The good news is this will be for a WKA Central North Island Title. So if this is indeed the end, he will be going out in style. If you haven’t seen Dion fight before, this could be the last chance to see him fight live, but you can see a few of his previous fights on youtube including his fights against Dion Gall Spartans, Ants Adriaan, Hayden Atamu, Nikau Williams and the Hayden Atamu rematch.
He will be taking on Jesse ‘The Evangelist’ Church. Jesse fights out of Core MMA which is based in Hamilton. Jesse is a black belt in Kyokushin Karate and is a personal trainer. You can see one of his fights on youtube when he took on Rob Manuel in an amateur MMA fight. Leading into 2019 he was undefeated in his MMA career until his fight against David Eagle. He went on to fight for the Central North Island title in December 2019 against Kael Tuhimata. It's been 17 months since that fight and he is ready to take on Dion Manson.
If you are not able to make it, you live out of town or even live away from New Zealand, you can watch the event Live on PPV for $19.95 on fightshow.live
